Golf and Networking - How my Sub-par golfing made me top of the leaderboard!

Last week I went down to Mattishall to enjoy my second Buy Local Norfolk meetup. This time we were playing golf at the Mattishall Golf Club, and I was genuinely surprised by how well I performed, especially considering I’d never touched a golf simulator before.

We kicked things off with some speed networking, where I met lots of interesting people running all sorts of different businesses. I had the chance to connect with experienced business owners and chat about everything from business strategy to whether I prefer tea or coffee — the answer being neither.

Then it was time for the golf itself. The game mode was perfect for me: hit the ball as far as you can, with zero concern for accuracy. I’d spent hours over the summer smashing golf balls into the bushes in the garden with the precision of a Stormtrooper, so this was right up my street.

Despite some very talented golfers being there, I was really happy with how I did. I managed to get the second‑highest score overall at 147m — and as a bonus, it actually went straight. I had a second go using a 6‑iron, a club I’m more familiar with, but it didn’t beat my first shot.

Overall, it was a fantastic event. I loved meeting people who already knew about Target Cloud, as well as introducing new faces to what we do. I’m already looking forward to the next one. Thanks, BLN!
