Case Study : Orbital Food Machinery

Orbital Foods are a second-hand food machine dealer based in Bury St Edmunds. They serve clients worldwide, buying and selling food related equipment. Being a small team of just 25 with a big demand, they are currently the biggest company of this type in Europe. It’s therefore essential that the systems and processes within the business run like clockwork.

The Problem

After trying a CRM in the past and it not working for them, Martin and the team were looking to try something different so they could run their operation more efficiently.

‘We needed a CRM system so we could get more organised. A customer recommended Zoho. We looked into it and found Craig, that’s when a couple of employees realised they knew him from a previous job. His name was on a list of UK agents and that’s why we decided to go with him.’

The Solution

Initially a meeting took place so we could assess the needs of Orbital Foods before coming up with a plan and setting the system up.

‘Some employees were a little reluctant but Craig did some staff training and came in a few times. Everyone thought it was great. We now do our CRM, quotations, inventory, stock control and run our parts department online. Craig has been instrumental in setting all this up.

Later, we wanted to include quotations so Craig came in again and set the next part up without any problems.’

The Impact

Automation is an integral part of what we do at Target Cloud. Full implementation of Zoho saves time and takes the hassle out of many day to day processes.

‘Everything is much more streamlined now. Everyone can access the information they need easily. Before it was on different spreadsheets and word documents. Now it’s all online so we can access it wherever: our mobiles or iPads. It just makes everything much easier.

Before you’d have to type an email to the girl in the office asking for a quote and if it wasn’t right you had to readjust it, but now it takes seconds.’

The capabilities of Zoho are vast so after the initial set-up there are many other features that can be added in.

‘We just need to keep pushing and getting more on board with it. In the future, we’d like to add in delivery notes and accountancy features so they’re up and running. With time, we want to go forward with it as it’s a great system.’

Customer service for us is about sharing and applying expert knowledge by collaborating with our clients and being accessible when they need us.

‘I would have no hesitation in recommending Craig. He knows the system really well, is very clear with instructions and we’ve been on the same page throughout the process, achieving a lot. It’s great that Craig’s local and can be there is 45 minutes but we handle most of it remotely now.’

Final Thoughts

‘I couldn’t have mastered it on my own while doing my job at the same time. Using Target Cloud has catapulted our business forwards and since then we’ve come up with lots of ideas for the future so we can keep growing.’
